Labor Department Deputy Director Addresses the Missouri Insurance Coalition Peter Lyskowski, Deputy Director of the Missouri Labor Department, and Deputy Director of the Division of Workers' Compensation, addressed the Missouri Insurance Coalition (MIC) during its annual meeting in Kansas City, Mo. The event was held Sept. 23-25, 2009, at the Downtown Marriott. Lyskowski spoke about the Labor Department's upcoming new Web site, its computer modernization effort, programs of importance to insurance companies such as First Reports of Injuries and death cases, and the Department's philosophy relative to insurance companies. Lyskowski stressed that the Department has a zero-tolerance policy for fraud. Our Fraud and Noncompliance Unit (FNU) continues to be vigilant in enforcing Missouri's laws against those who cheat the system. Last year, the FNU received a statewide honor, naming it Investigative Unit of the Year. The award recognized the accomplishments of an investigative unit that has made an exceptional contribution to the field of investigations and the community it serves. The MIC is a nonprofit governmental affairs and consumer education organization representing the insurance industry. The MIC was established to foster a better understanding of the insurance business. Approximately 100 insurers, along with a number of the industry's largest trade associations, are members of the MIC.
