Prevailing Wage Rates Set for Missouri State Highways and Transportation Construction Projects
General Wage Order No. 56 Now in Effect
JEFFERSON CITY, MO – The Missouri Department of Labor and Industrial Relations' Division of Labor Standards has established prevailing wage rates for use on all Missouri state highways and transportation construction projects. With the expiration of the 30 day comment period, the wage rates are now final.
Each year on or before July 1, the Division files a General Wage Order with the Secretary of State with a 30 day objection period. If there are no objections, the prevailing wage rates established by the Division are final. The General Wage Order lists prevailing wage rates in every Missouri county and the city of St. Louis. The prevailing wage is the rate that must be paid to workers on Missouri State Highways and Transportation construction projects.
The Division of Labor Standards is responsible for gathering wage information from public and private commercial construction projects statewide on an ongoing basis from contractors, labor organizations, and public entities. The wage information is used to determine wage rates for every Missouri county and the city of St. Louis. The wage rate that has the highest number of hours worked within a county for a particular occupational title becomes the prevailing wage rate in that county for that occupational title.
