State Officials Respond to Assist Branson Workers, Businesses
JEFFERSON CITY – Officials from the Missouri Department of Labor, Department of Insurance and Economic Development, along with the Taney County Business Partnership Development, the Branson Lakes Area Chamber of Commerce, and the Ozark Workforce Investment Board will hold response sessions to assist workers and businesses in the Branson area that were affected by the tornado and storms on February 29, 2012.
Workers who lost their job as a result of the storms can file unemployment claims onsite at the response sessions. Missouri Housing Development Commission representatives will also be on hand to assist those who have lost their homes. Workers affected by the storm should file an unemployment claim immediately to get the assistance they need until they find full-time work by visiting www.mo.gov.
Officials with the Division of Workforce Development will also be on hand, along with Career Center business representatives, to provide information on career-assistance services.
Employers can get information about unemployment contributions, loss of records, layoffs, and be able to request recall dates onsite. Affected businesses with some available work can also sign up with the state’s Shared Work program to avoid higher unemployment contribution rates.
The State Storm Response meetings will be held:
