Lawrence G. Rebman
Lawrence G. Rebman was appointed by Governor Nixon as the director of the Missouri Department of Labor and Industrial Relations on January 12, 2009.
Larry earned his bachelor’s degree in economics from the University of Missouri-Columbia and his juris doctorate from the University of Missouri – Kansas City School of Law.
Larry put himself through college as a laborer with Laborers Local 663 and remained a member for 19 years. Before law school, Larry worked as the Assistant Director of Research and Collective Bargaining for the International Brotherhood of Boilermakers.
In 1995 he became an Assistant Attorney General for the State of Missouri. In 1999, Larry returned to Kansas City to enter private practice representing public sector labor unions in Missouri and Kansas. For six years he has managed his own law firm, Rebman and Associates, LLC, representing individuals and labor organizations in cases involving employment and personal injury.
As director, Rebman is the President of the National Association of Government Labor Officials (NAGLO) and serves as the organization’s public member on the Advisory Committee on Apprenticeship (ACA); he serves on the Executive Board of the National Association of State Workforce Agencies (NASWA); on the Missouri Workforce Investment Board, Alignment Committee; the Family and Community Trust; the Board of Unemployment Fund Financing; and the Children’s Services Commission.
Larry and his wife Shellie have two sons, George and William.
