Department of Labor Leaders Celebrate Labor Day with Holloway America in Springfield, MO

JEFFERSON CITY, MO - Leaders from the Missouri Department of Labor and Industrial Relations (DOLIR) visited Holloway America in Springfield, MO to celebrate Labor Day with Missouri’s working men and women.

DOLIR Director Anna Hui spoke to the audience on the 125th anniversary of President Grover Cleveland’s signing into law the “working man’s” holiday. After touring the plant, Director Hui commended the company on its investment in its workforce, including the company’s safety program, mentorships, and its local training partnership with Ozark Technical College (OTC). Director Hui also presented Holloway America with a proclamation from Governor Mike Parson recognizing the company for providing opportunities to enhance workforce development, promote workplace safety, and contributing to the economic vitality of Missouri.”

As we celebrate Labor Day, it is a time to reflect on the progress that has been made in both protecting and investing in our workers,” commented Hui. “Today, companies like Holloway America represent the best of Missouri, not only for producing products for which their workers should be justifiably proud, but also for their commitment to their workers.”

Also attending today’s ceremony were OSHA Region VII Administrator Kim Stille, Director Taylor Burks and Assistant Director Daniel Stark with DOLIR’s Division of Labor Standards and DOLIR’s Director of Strategic Communications Delores Rose.

Holloway America manufactures stainless steel products for the pharmaceutical, oil, gas, energy, munitions, chemical, food, beverage, and dairy industries. It was honored with the prestigious Safety and Health Achievement Recognition Program (SHARP) Award in November of 2015 for its commitment to workplace safety and health. It is one of only 31 businesses in Missouri to hold this recognition. SHARP is designed to honor small businesses with 250 employees or less that operate effective safety and health management programs and participate in the Missouri On-Site Safety and Health Consultation Program.
