Missouri's Unemployment Benefit Accuracy Listed Among Top Performers in National Peer Review

JEFFERSON CITY, MO - The Missouri Department of Labor and Industrial Relations Division of Employment Security (DES) scored among the top performing states in March at the National Benefits Accuracy Measurement Peer Review conducted by the U.S. Department of Labor’s Employment and Training Administration. The Peer Review evaluated the accuracy of Missouri’s paid unemployment claims.

Ten random Missouri unemployment paid cases were audited during the peer review, each with 206 points of evaluation, leaving a potential for as many as 2,060 exceptions. Missouri had less than one percent of the possible total exceptions for the selected cases, ranking Missouri among the top performers at the National Peer Review. According to DES Director Chris Slinkard, “The integrity of Missouri’s Unemployment Insurance program is the top priority of the Division. Our mission is to protect the unemployment funds entrusted to us by Missouri businesses while ensuring that proper payments go to Missouri’s unemployed workers eligible for benefits under the law.”
