The Division of Labor Standards' On-Site Safety and Health Consultation Program is a free and confidential service to help Missouri employers comply with federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) regulations. The program also helps provide safe and healthy workplaces for employees by helping the employer locate and remove existing hazards in the facility, thereby reducing injuries and illnesses. Safer workplace practices can also lead to lower worker's compensation insurance costs, and can help improve attendance, productivity and morale. OSHA Enforcement will not know of your participation in the Missouri Consultation Program.

Upon request from an employer, trained industrial hygienists and safety consultants visit the workplace, inform and educate the employer on problems found and make recommendations for elimination of those hazards. This service is free to small Missouri employers who request it, including any necessary chemical or noise sampling. It is funded 90 percent by the federal Department of Labor and 10 percent by the state of Missouri. Employers are responsible for costs involved in correcting hazards identified during the visit. Employees who want to file a complaint concerning safety or health conditions at their worksite must contact Federal OSHA Enforcement.
