The Missouri Division of Workers' Compensation (DWC) accepts forms and documents electronically through Box.com. This service is provided at no cost and allows for faster processing compared to traditional mail.
1. Getting Started: Account Setup
Attorneys licensed in Missouri and insurance agencies are eligible to use this service. Visiting attorneys must first provide proof of fee payment to the Clerk of the Missouri Supreme Court and comply with Rules 9.01 and 6.01.
Registration Steps
- Request Access: Send an email to ElectronicFiling@labor.mo.gov.
- Accept Invitation: You will receive an email to collaborate on Box.com. Accept the invitation that appears specifically under your law firm or agency name.
- Account Configuration:
- Password Requirements: Must contain an uppercase letter, a special character, and at least two numbers.
- Account Type: When prompted, select "Personal" (or individual plan) and click "NO" when asked if you are part of the State of Missouri.
- Note: Choosing "Work" will result in a fee for the service.
- Email Verification: Verify your email via the automated link sent by Box.
- Sharing Folders: Select "Skip This Step" when asked to share the folder. To grant access to other members of your firm, email the Division with their email addresses; they cannot view folders unless manually added by the Division.
2. Filing Instructions
Once logged in, select the "All Files" icon on the left to find your firm or agency folder (labeled "Name-DWC").
Uploading Guidelines
- Location: Documents must be uploaded inside the "DWC" folder to be received. Insurance companies must further place documents into specific sub-folders such as Medical or Correspondence.
- Formatting:
- Do not lock or secure PDFs.
- Do not use semicolons, colons, or commas in file names.
- Do not give files identical names.
- Naming Convention: Use the format: FILING TYPE - INJURED WORKER LAST NAME - INJURY NUMBER (if known) - YOUR INITIALS.
- Example: CFCWilliams-ABC or WC2Smith20000000-ABC.
- Note: Use your initials, not the attorney's name, so the Division knows whom to contact regarding the file.
Document Consolidation (Insurance Only)
- WC-151 + WC-9: Consolidate into ONE file; upload to "Information Request".
- WC-2/WC-3 + WC-9 + WC-151: Consolidate into ONE file; upload to "Notice of Commencement".
3. Post-Filing & Timelines
- Transfer Times:
- Law Firms: Documents are transferred at 7:00 a.m., 10:00 a.m., 3:00 p.m., and 11:30 p.m. daily.
- Insurance: Documents are transferred at 12:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. CST daily.
- Receipts: Files disappear from your folder once received. Date-stamped copies (stamped on the left side) will appear in your folder the following business day after 11:00 a.m.
- Procedural Note: Claim/Answer acknowledgments will still be sent by mail. Cover letters are not required for these filings.
4. Contact Information & Alternative Filing
If you cannot use Box.com, documents should be sent via email to the appropriate unit. Faxing should only be used if no other option exists.
